The second 30/30…

Not happy with just doing the one 30/30, during my easter Brewathon I did a second one, 2 days later. Clarify the process, check out some new hops… Seemed logical to me…

So, the basic idea was the same as for the first 30/30 (a 30 min mash, then a 30 min boil) but to do a cleaner, more lagery beer and to test out the Jarrylo hops I had in the freezer.

Honest review time – Not overly keen on this hop. The beer itself came out very clean and quite crisp on the palette, but the hop flavour for some reason is not as punchy as I wanted. Dont get me wrong, its a pleasant beer and the hop itself suits the clean psuedo lagery style I’ve employed for this one, but the overall impression is quite flowery and floral, with faint notes of fruit. I’ll be keeping an eye on this one and hopefully it’ll get better with age… It wasnt what I was hoping for, but its by no means unpleasant… I reckon it would work extremely well with Nelson Sauvin and maybe a small dry hop of Rakau in there as well…  Guess thats one for the next iteration.
